Delete your data

Delete it yourself, in the app or on the website

Sign in, open your picture in the top corner, then Account Settings → Account → Delete account, and follow the steps. It happens straight away, and we email you to confirm.

If you signed up with Apple on an iPhone, Apple asks you to confirm it's you, and SeyShare is removed from the apps using your Apple ID at the same time.

Or ask us by email

If you can't sign in any more, email admin@seywebsolutions.com with the subject Delete my account, from the email address you use to sign in to SeyShare. That last part matters — it is how we confirm the request is really from you.

Tell us:

• Your display name on SeyShare.
• Whether you want everything deleted, or just want your account closed while your past exchanges stay in the community totals as anonymous numbers.

If you cannot email us from your registered address, send the request anyway and we will find another way to verify it before deleting anything.

What we delete

• Your account and sign-in details.
• Your profile — name, photo, banner, bio, island and district.
• Every listing you have posted, and all of its photos.
• Your saved items and favourites.
• Your notification settings and any push notification tokens.
• Your two-factor authentication settings.
• The list of members you have blocked.
• Any partner application you sent, with its contact details, and its logo unless an approved organisation is still using it.

What stays, and why

• Messages you sent to other members stay in their conversation, shown from a deleted account. We cannot remove one side of a conversation without deleting the other person's record of it too.
• Records of items that changed hands stay, so the other member's counts stay right. They hold an anonymous account ID, not your name.
• Reports and moderation records are kept so that repeat problems can still be recognised and other members kept safe.
• Community totals — items given, waste diverted — keep counting your past exchanges as anonymous numbers. They contain nothing that identifies you.

If you need any of these removed as well, say so in your email and we will look at it case by case.

Deleting some of your data, without closing your account

You do not have to close your account to remove something. You can delete any listing you have posted yourself, from the listing itself — the photos go with it.

For anything else you would like removed while keeping your account — a message, your profile photo — email admin@seywebsolutions.com from your registered address, say what you want deleted, and we will come back to you within 30 days.

How long it takes

Deleting your account yourself takes effect immediately. If you ask by email, we confirm your request within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30 days. Either way you get an email when it is done. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis and any remaining copies disappear within 90 days.

Deletion cannot be undone. You can always create a new account later.

If you signed in with Facebook

Deleting your SeyShare account removes the information we received from Facebook — your name, profile picture and email address. To also disconnect SeyShare from your Facebook account, open Facebook and go to Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites, find SeyShare in the list and remove it.

Removing the app on Facebook stops any further connection, but it does not by itself delete your SeyShare account — delete it as described above for that.
