SeyShare is a free giving and sharing platform for Seychelles. This page explains what information we hold about you, why we hold it, who else sees it, and how to get it removed. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal language.

Who we are

SeyShare is operated by SeyWeb Solutions in Seychelles, in partnership with Senm Lanmour Community. If you have any question about your information, email admin@seywebsolutions.com.

What we collect

When you create an account

  • Your name and email address.
  • Your profile photo, if you have one.
  • Your password — handled entirely by Google Firebase Authentication. We never see it or store it ourselves.

If you sign in with Google or Facebook

We receive your name, profile picture and email address from that provider, and nothing else. We do not post anything to your account, and we do not ask for your friends, photos, posts or any other data held by Google or Facebook.

What you add yourself

  • Your island, district, short bio and profile banner.
  • Listings you post — title, description, category, photos and the island or district where the item is.
  • Messages you send to other members.
  • When you mark an item as given or received, who it went to or came from, and whether they confirmed it.
  • Reports you submit about a listing or a member.

If you apply to become a partner

  • Your organisation or business name, its type, island and a short description, and its logo if you add one.
  • The contact person's name, a contact number and an email address.

The contact person and number are only seen by the SeyShare team. If your application is approved, the organisation's name, description, logo and email may be shown on its partner profile.

What the platform records as you use it

  • Counts of items you have given and received, successful collections, badges and a reputation score.
  • Your notification preferences, and device tokens if you turn on push notifications.
  • Security records: when you last signed in, whether two-factor authentication is switched on, and the email address your verification codes go to.

What is visible to other people

SeyShare is a community platform, so some of your information is public by design. Anyone visiting the site can see your display name, profile photo and banner, bio, island, badges, reputation score, how many items you have given and received, the date you joined, and the listings you have posted. If you represent a partner organisation, its name appears as a Partner badge on your profile and posts.

Who you gave an item to, or got one from, is only visible to the two of you (or the organisation involved) and our moderators.

Your email address, phone number, exact address and private messages are never shown publicly. The one exception is the contact email of a partner organisation, which it gives us to show on its profile.

Why we use your information

  • To let you sign in and keep your account secure.
  • To show your listings to people nearby and connect givers with receivers.
  • To deliver messages between members.
  • To send you the emails and notifications you have asked for, plus security codes when two-factor authentication is on.
  • To check listings for spam, scams and anything being sold rather than given away.
  • To review partner applications, and to contact the organisation about its application.
  • To produce anonymous, community-wide totals — items given, waste diverted — which never identify an individual.

Who else handles your information

We do not sell your information, and we never will. SeyShare carries no advertising and no third-party tracking or analytics. We do rely on a small number of service providers to run the platform:

  • Google Firebase — accounts, database, photo storage, push notifications and hosting.
  • Vercel — website hosting and delivery.
  • Anthropic — a listing's title, description and photos are sent to Anthropic's Claude service to be checked automatically for spam, scams and prohibited content. When someone reports a listing or a member, the reason they give and the name of the member being reported are sent as well; a report about a chat message quotes that message. Your email address, your password and the rest of your chats are never sent.
  • Email delivery — a mail provider sends your security codes and notification emails.

These providers process data on our instructions only. Because they operate internationally, your information may be stored or processed outside Seychelles.

We may also share information where the law requires it, or where it is needed to investigate fraud, abuse or a safety risk to someone.

How long we keep it

  • Your account information is kept for as long as your account is open.
  • When you delete a listing, the listing and its photos are removed.
  • Messages stay in a conversation so both people keep their history.
  • A partner application is kept while it is reviewed and, if approved, for as long as the organisation is on SeyShare. It is deleted with your account, or when the organisation is removed, and a new application replaces the old one.
  • Reports, moderation decisions and security records are kept longer, so that repeat problems can be recognised and the community kept safe.

Your rights

You can see and change most of your information from your profile and settings pages at any time. You can also ask us to:

  • Give you a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your account and your data.
  • Stop sending you notification emails.

To delete your account, follow the steps on our data deletion page. For anything else, email admin@seywebsolutions.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Keeping your information safe

Traffic to SeyShare is encrypted. Access to the database is controlled by security rules so that members can only reach their own private data, and optional two-factor authentication is available in your security settings. No online service can promise perfect security, but if a breach ever affected your information we would tell you.

Young people and families

SeyShare is open to everyone in the community. If you are a parent or guardian and would like an account belonging to your child removed, email admin@seywebsolutions.com and we will remove it, no questions asked.

Collections are arranged between members, so we ask younger members to meet in a public place and, wherever possible, to bring an adult they trust.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
